When you want to go for a trip which lasts for a few days, carrying enough water supplies could become a potential problem. Furthermore, hearing about nasty things like Cryptosporidium and Giardia does not make things easier.
So, how do we work this out? Most successful hikers and mountaineers know how to use outdoor water sources in a safe way. It’s not something that’s truly difficult, but it does require a little bit of patience. Typically you have three ways to produce safe drinking water: chemicals, filtering, and boiling.
