You already know that something as simple as a meal replacement bar can give you many of the nutrients and calories that you need without causing a lot of hassle in the process. You don’t have to refrigerate them, you can carry them in the glove box, your purse or even your pocket, and you can eat them while you are on the run. Imagine what would happen if this became your regular diet, and it was basically the only thing you ever ate. It just might become a reality in the future.
If you think eating some meal bar developed by NASA is futuristic, consider eating food that exists as the sole result of 3D printing. Imagine menus that are created just for a particular individual using a 3D printer. You already know that these futuristic printers can create virtually anything. Now, allow your mind to stretch a little more and think about what might happen if you start consuming some of the things that are made utilizing these techniques. It might be a way to get more food sources to an ever-increasing population, something that is becoming a real problem all over the world.
Why Changes Must Occur
Basically, changes have to occur because there are more and more people that are being born and the world’s food supply simply cannot support this many individuals. In the not-too-distant future, it will be impossible to keep up with the demand. There are already too many people that are starving because there isn’t enough food to go around. You also have to consider the changing climate and the way that this will affect the ability of farmers to produce crops and raise livestock, not to mention the rising prices of food. Even in developed countries, food is so expensive that it is sometimes out of reach for the poorest individuals. For these reasons, change has to occur and for some, it can’t come soon enough.
If you think about it, the way people eat has already changed a great deal over the last 20 or 30 years. It only stands to reason that it will continue to evolve. While you might not be too thrilled about some of the options, it is something that everyone will have to get used to sooner or later.
